Prop. Aidan Windvogel is from the Cape Flats. He was born in Elsies River on 27 September 1993. His parents are Ursula and Niklaas Windvogel.

Aidan completed his primary school education at Euron Primary School and his secondary education at Elsies River High School.

“I grew up in a household where God was the center,” says Aidan. “My brothers and I were spiritually influenced by our parents and great grandmother.

“I am a member of URCSA Elsies River where my father is an elder. Other people that influenced my Christian belief was Rev. RE Cloete and Rev. LJ Simon, former ministers of the congregation. They also had a great influence regarding my spiritual formation and love for the work of God.”

After school Aidan started his career in theology at the Stellenbosch University. His BDiv mini thesis was about gangsterism and socioeconomic injustice on the Cape Flats as a challenge to youth ministry. It was followed up with his MDiv thesis, Gangsterism and Toxic Masculinity: A Practical Theological Reflection. This was done under the supervision of Prof. Anita Cloete.

Aidan is very fond of reading, music and watching series.

His dream for the church is that it should be an inclusive community.  It has to be a place where everyone is welcome regardless of who and what people are.  It also must create a space for young people to see the church as a beacon of hope during challenging times.
